HORTICULTURIST/AGRONOMIST

Danroc has an opportunity available for a  qualified Horticulturist/Agronomist to join their Technical Department. The position is based at the Head Office in White River, however the candidate will be required to travel between various farms within the Lowveld.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum: BSc/MSc Qualification in agricultural field
  • 1 – 3 Years experience in agriculture, preferably with R&D (research and development)
  • Experience with Subtropical Fruit
  • Expert knowledge of orchard management
  • Expert knowledge of research methodology
  • Macadamia and Avocado experience – an added advantage
  • Strong technical skills
  • Advanced computer skills
  • Highly analytical
  • Attention to detail
  • High level commitment to accuracy and quality
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Self motivated, innovative and proactive

 

The candidate must understand the unique challenges and opportunities within modern agriculture and be willing to work in a rapidly changing environment.

 

Although the post is available immediately, the company will be negotiable on a suitable starting date. The position offers a market related remuneration package.

    AGRICULTURAL / CIVIL ENGINEER

    Danroc seeks to employ a dynamic and qualified Agricultural/Civil Engineer with proven ability in the agricultural environment. The successful candidate will oversee all design aspects within the Projects Department. The position will report directly to the Projects Head with the key tasks being:

    • Irrigation design and layouts
    • Pumphouse/Cluster house layouts
    • Farm Infrastructure design
    • Project material procurement

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Agricultural/Civil Engineering Qualification.
    • 5 years or more experience in relevant field.

     

    TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING CORE SKILLS:

    • Quantative analysis
    • Attention to detail
    • Problem solving
    • Communication
